The long-lasting cooperation articulated by nomasmetaforas is between the University of Paris 8, previously known as the Experimental University Centre of Vincennes (a result of the intellectual and educational revolution that followed the events of May ‘68), and The Autonomous Indigenous Intercultural University of Cauca (a result of the Indigenous fight for land recuperation), whose methodological practices involve rematriation, revitalization of ancestral languages and an understanding of research rooted in practice and community processes.
Since 2022, “Spiral Pedagogies” has been working as an ongoing process initiated by UAIIN-CRIC to strengthen a long-term network of collaboration with UACO (Universidad Autónoma Comunal de Oaxaca), the Master’s program in Arts and Humanities at Paris8 University, and the collective nomasmetaforas. Conceived as a space of encounter and collective reflection, the process has opened a conversation on the possibility of imagining a joint master’s program that articulates communal and Indigenous epistemologies with artistic research-creation practices. Rather than treating these questions as an academic topic, the initiative seeks a structural transformation of pedagogical thinking.
The process it’s affirmed in the value of sustaining dialogue through difference and envisioning a future that may ultimately exceed the very framework of art.
